Setup

  • Set up a full crease defense against attackers working off-ball cuts and feeds from behind the goal.
Crease Defense and Communication DrillFFeeds from behindOCutsXXDefenders talk through cuts and feeds around the crease

Instructions

  1. Attackers work behind-the-goal feeds and cuts through the crease area looking for a quick catch-and-finish.
  2. Defenders communicate constantly, switching and denying passing lanes as cutters move through.
  3. Play out each sequence to a shot or a defensive stop, then reset with a new feed angle.
  4. Rotate attackers and defenders through different crease positions.
Coaching Points
  • Talk before the cut happens, not after - late calls give up easy goals around the crease.
  • Keep the stick active in passing lanes without leaving your feet unnecessarily.
  • Know when to switch assignments versus fight through a screen.

Variation

Add a live goalie and full offense to turn it into a competitive crease-area scrimmage segment.
