Setup

  • Players form a single-file line, each with a ball, behind a designated leader (coach or player).
  • Leave enough open space for the line to move freely around the area.
Follow the Leader Dribble Drill1234LPlayers dribble in a line, copying the leaderLeader changes speed, hand, and direction; rotate leaders often

Instructions

  1. The leader dribbles around the space, and everyone in line copies exactly what they do.
  2. The leader changes hands, changes speed, and adds stops along the way.
  3. After 90 seconds, rotate a new player to the front to lead.
  4. Keep the line moving continuously without bunching up.
Coaching Points
  • Following players should stay far enough back to have room to dribble safely.
  • Encourage the leader to use BOTH hands, not just their strong hand.
  • This is about comfort and fun first — correct grip and control only if it's not disrupting the flow.
  • Rotate leaders often so every player gets a turn.

Variation

Add simple obstacles (cones) for the line to weave around, or let the leader call out a body part to touch without losing the dribble.
