Equipment Needed
- One ball per group
- Full field or long grid
Setup
- Three players line up across one end of the field: one in the middle with the ball, one on each wing.
- Additional groups of three can start at staggered intervals to keep the drill continuous.
Instructions
- The middle player passes to a wing player, then sprints behind them and cuts toward the opposite side of the field.
- The receiving wing player passes to the new middle runner (the one who just cut) and follows the same behind-the-pass, cut-through pattern.
- Repeat the weave pattern up the full length of the field, finishing with a shot on goal once the group crosses the midline.
- The player who didn't touch the ball on the finishing sequence should trail hard for a rebound.
Coaching Points
- Passes should be led ahead of the receiver's run, not thrown directly at their current position.
- Running behind a teammate after a pass (rather than in front) keeps passing lanes clean and avoids collisions.
- Maintain full sprint speed throughout — this drill is as much a conditioning tool as a stick-skills drill.
- Catch the ball in stride and keep the stick ready to pass or shoot immediately on the catch.
Variation
Add a trailing defender to apply light pressure on the finishing shot, or run continuous groups at 10-second intervals for a full-team transition conditioning piece.
