On-Ball Pressure DrillODribblerXContains, no reachLive 1v1: defender contains without foulingStay low, force to a spot, active hands

Instructions

  1. The offensive player dribbles anywhere within the marked area for 15-20 seconds.
  2. The defender stays in a low stance, slides their feet, and contests without reaching in.
  3. The coach calls out time; switch roles so both players defend.
  4. Run 3-4 rounds per pair, resting between rounds.
Coaching Points
  • Contain first - force the dribbler to a spot rather than trying to steal the ball outright.
  • Stay on the balls of the feet with a low center of gravity.
  • Active hands, no grabbing - fouls end the possession without a reward.

Variation

Add a boundary the dribbler cannot leave, forcing the defender to funnel them toward a sideline.
