Mark the dodge sequence
A set of cones makes it easy to lay out a consistent sequence for advanced dodging combinations.

- Set up a cone representing a defender, with space beyond it for a full dodge sequence.
- Players approach and combine moves in sequence.
Instructions
- Approach the cone and execute a first dodge (face dodge or split), then immediately chain a second move (a roll dodge or hesitation) if the first doesn't fully clear the defender.
- Change speed explicitly between moves — slow, then explosive — to unbalance a defender's timing.
- Finish the combination with a burst of acceleration toward the goal.
- Repeat with different combinations of moves chained together.
Coaching Points
- A change of speed between moves is often what actually beats an advanced defender, not just the moves themselves.
- Keep the stick protected through every transition between moves — a combination move with a loose stick just invites a check.
- This is genuinely difficult and takes real repetition — encourage players to develop one or two combinations they can rely on rather than trying to master everything at once.
- Film review, if available, is especially useful for this drill since the sequence happens too fast to self-correct in the moment.
Variation
Add a live, full-speed defender to test the combinations under real pressure, or restrict practice to a single combination for a full session to build real mastery.
