Make the shape easy to read
A set of pinnies makes positional rotations easy to track from the sideline during a full 1-4-3-3 session.

- Set up a full team in a 1-4-3-3 shape across a full or three-quarter field.
- Walk through rotations at low intensity before adding pressure.
Instructions
- As the ball moves to one side, the near-side winger stays wide while the near-side central midfielder rotates to support underneath.
- The far-side winger tucks slightly inside to stay in a passing lane as the shape shifts.
- Full-backs overlap or stay depending on whether their winger has gone inside or stayed wide.
- Play out possession sequences, resetting the shape after every loss of possession.
Coaching Points
- This is about spacing and relationships, not just individual positions — a player's role changes based on where their teammates are.
- Rotations should look fluid, not robotic; the PRINCIPLE (maintain width and passing lanes) matters more than a rigid script.
- Coach this from a wide/aerial view if possible so players can see the shape they're creating.
- Add light, then full-speed defensive pressure only once the shape holds up at walk-through pace.
Variation
Add a defending team to pressure the shape and test if the rotations hold up, or focus a whole session on just one side of the rotation before adding the other.
