Setup

  • Set 6–8 cones in a line, about 2 yards apart.
  • Players line up at the start of the cone line, each with a ball.
Traffic Cones Weave Dribble Drill1Weave through the cone line using small touchesInside foot in, outside foot back; keep the ball close

Instructions

  1. Dribble through the cones using small touches, weaving in and out of each one.
  2. Use the inside of the foot to change direction around each cone.
  3. At the end of the line, turn around and weave back using the outside of the foot.
  4. Rotate through the line continuously, spacing players out so no one waits too long.
Coaching Points
  • Keep the ball close on every touch — a big touch sends it past the next cone.
  • Encourage players to look up between cones, not only down at the ball.
  • It's fine to knock over a cone occasionally; correcting speed matters more than perfection at this age.
  • Demonstrate the inside-outside foot pattern slowly before speeding up.

Variation

Time each player's lap for a fun personal-best challenge, or add a partner race through parallel cone lines.
