Setup

  • Three players form a small triangle roughly 8–10 yards apart.
  • One ball starts with any player in the triangle.
Wall Pass Combination DrillABCXOne-touch passes around the triangle, defender in the middle

Instructions

  1. Play one-touch passes around the triangle as quickly and accurately as possible.
  2. After every 8–10 clean passes, add a defender in the middle trying to intercept.
  3. Players must find an open passing angle to avoid the defender rather than forcing a pass through them.
  4. Rotate the defender in and out every minute so everyone gets a turn.
Coaching Points
  • One-touch passing demands the receiver already knows where they'll play the ball before it arrives.
  • Constant movement to open a passing angle is what makes this work — standing still gets the passer cut off.
  • Weight of pass matters: too soft invites a defender in, too hard is uncontrollable at one touch.
  • Talk to each other — calling for the ball early helps the passer make a faster decision.

Variation

Add a fourth player to make it a diamond shape, or require two touches instead of one for a slightly easier introduction.
